Last nights freezing rain may provide the first icy roads of the season. In years past, I have run with people who have used several methods to safely navigate icy roads.
Yak Trax have been the most popular approach. Last winter, Lee Danielson tried a homemade approach: he inserted screws into the soles of his running shoes. This method is inexpensive and can be very effective. It can also be painful (it the screws are too long.)
