Winter Running Attire
My winter running attire consists of 3 different running jackets as well as multiple warm shirts, wool socks which I also use for gloves and, of course, shoes (trail shoes). I feel very confident on putting on any of the clothing that I mentioned above, but when it comes to running pants, I am at a complete loss and need some help. Here is my dilemna: I have a few pairs of sweat pants, 1 pair of loose fitting windbreaker running pants and 2 pairs of the spandex type running pants (a.k.a. running tights). I see some guys running in these spandex running pants without wearing shorts over them while others always wear the shorts over them. This morning I didn't wear the shorts over them. In order for me to dress properly, and be able to run with confidence, I have to get this question answered. What is the proper way to wear spandex style running pants and should they be completely eliminated from the males running wardrobe altogether?

No need to wear anything over them. They're less exposing than wrestlers and swimmers uniforms, and track and cross country teams use this look (with no shorts over the top) as they run all over town. Shorts can add a little bit of warmth and wind block though.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with anonymous regarding the running tights BUT you also need to feel comfortable in your running attire and if wearing shorts adds the level of comfort you need then wear them. Personally like the running tights myself.
DeleteGetting this type of advice from people who choose to remain anonymous doesn't hold any credibility for me. I guess this question remains unanswered.
ReplyDeleteI wear the tights with nothing over them. I think it looks goofier to put shorts over the top of them. However, I've also been known to wear pink sweats if nothing else was available :)
